Hi all, sorry this is in english but i`m not sure i can explain properly in Norwegian..
Just a quick question really, i`m looking to import a 2011 vw passat from our friends ze germans.
the question is, is it worth it? i mean, the car is only a stationsvogn 1.6l with 105 hests with about 40,00km on the clock, other than that its pretty standard. i had a dealer here in bergen (møller bil) offer me one for 300,000kr`, and that car was imported from germany, but a friend asked me why i didnt just import myself.
any thoughts, is it too time consuming/difficult/expensive?
what additional costs am i looking at other than the 50 million kroners i`ll probably have to pay in tax to get the car into norway?
cheers
steve
p.s. am i better off getting deisel or petrol?

Hi Steve!
You don't say much regarding what eqiupment you are looking for so I've just picked an example to show you what price is possible with importing the car:
http://www.mobile24.no/autos/details/157076318
Add 20-25 000 in importcost and you wil also need a set of winter tires in adittion. But in total a car like that wouldn't cost more than 260-265 000 NOK including all tax here in Norway

Re: englishman looking for advice
Petrol in this hp-range would not be recommended. The taxes would also be higher so the car would be more expensive! If you buy a Passat that was sold new in Norway in 2011 you will get 5 years guarantee, but if you import one it will only be the guarantee from the fabric which will be valid. This means 2 years from the car was first registered in Germany.
